Brochure or Mini-Website

For your brochure website you will need to provide us with:

All text materials for the website. For best results organize the text as follows:

    • Clearly mark all headlines to paragraphs
    • Write concisely and using as many keywords for you endeavor as possible, specially in the headline
    • Remember even graphics have text so if there are graphics or photos with text provide we need  that text as well or tell us the sample text is fine
    • There are three key pages that usually exist in every website, these are the Home or Index page, the About Us page, and the Contact Us page, these are very important for your website especially the home or index page, we need the complete information divided by the sections the template shows so we can put them up correctly for you
    • All text, graphics and photos must be submitted electronically
    • The name of all of the tabs and menu items that come with the website
    • Always try to include as many keywords or keyword phrases that pertain to your business or endeavor as possible in the text so that you can have better ranking on the search engines for those terms.
    • Use header text whenever possible in your writing with as many keywords as possible in them to assist with search engine optimization and to assist visitors.
    • We will not rewrite your text unless we see a blaring error (and we will tell you we corrected it in case you meant to have it there), so please write the best you can because making changes to your text after the site is completed may cost you a little bit to change.  We do not judge your text and usually will not read it so please make sure it is accurate and written in the best way possible.
    • Index or Home page--this information is the most important as that is the first thing most people will read.  Make it concise and please make it conform to the sections included in the template's index page you chose so that we can place them correctly for you
    • About Us page--This page should describe your company or endeavor and should also express your philosophy or what makes you different or special.  It should also include  your terms of service and describe as detailed as possible the how to shop if you have a shopping website or how to receive your goods or services.  It is not a bad idea to include your contact information at the bottom as well and state all the languages you communicate in.  You may want to include photos, logos, diagrams, and even videos that support the information you are providing here.  Please remember text alone is boring and people trying to get to know you will instantly feel closer to you if they can see you or have more connection to you then just words; images and other visual materials make the text come alive and grab the attention of the reader so think of this when writing your About Us page so you can tell the artist what images or videos you wish to have here.
    • Contact Us page--This page should include all of your contact information as well as your primary email.  Please note while you may be used to using a web email such as hotmail, gmail, or yahoo webmail, it is not a good idea to use these emails here as you should brand your website by using a website email. If you wish we can forward your website email to your web mail but you should use it instead of your webmail here.  Other things may want to include here is directions and maps. For just a nominal fee,  we can actually add Google Maps to this area so your visitors can get driving directions from anywhere; please ask us about adding Google Maps to this page if you are interested and we will give you  a quote.
    • Any other page you might want to have such as Services, Products,  etc. should be organized in the way they present the product or service or whatever those pages do.  If  you are including services or products it is best to use word to show the photo with the description so we can place them correctly the first time.  Then we can format these areas correctly.  If you require a Paypal or shopping button, please make sure to give us the exact code for each button so when you get the order you receive the correct information about our product or service.
    • Text for graphical elements such as banners and other graphics should be kept to a minimum yet be high impacting.  Remember graphics and photos can only take so much text and it might ruin their appearance if you have too much or if the text does not match the image or if the text is not high impacting.

Images and graphics

    • All photos and images that you already have for the site should be submitted as early as possible to help the designer start thinking of the best placement for them.
    • All images just be jpg or gif formats but if you have Photoshop files of them, we would prefer it to the jgp or gif.
    • For photos we would prefer the raw photo unless you have already Photoshopped it.  For all photos and images we require the highest resolution possible (unless they have already been sized and made web ready) so we can give you the best image possible after making them web ready.
    • We require all images to be in electronic format.  We can scan images but that would be done for a modest fee.
    • For graphical elements that require words that are not already placed on the image, please clearly state the words you want there so we can add this.  This include graphical elements already in the template.
    • If you would like the images placed in a certain order or a certain page, please send us a little note with the name of the image and where you would like to place them.  Also if you would like a caption with the image, please tell us the caption in this note.
    • Logos should be submitted as soon as possible since they are an integral part of the website.  If the logo is not desired in the website we can replace it with the name of the website if you like.

Scans and Typing

    • We understand that sometimes images are not in electronic format and text are not typed.  We can scan your images and type your text ourselves but that would be done for an additional modest fee per 100 words type and per scan.
    • Since this is labor intensive, please let us know right away that you require these services.

Custom Premium Website

  • Please see instructions above  under Brochure and Mini-Website for submitting text and images.
  •  For these custom designed sites we prefer if you can provide us with up to three website models that you like so we can start with an idea of what you like.  While this is not required, we think it is a great help and will also speed up the development of the website.
  • For the website logo if you do not have one, please show us a few logos that you like or describe in details what your vision of the logo is.  Again this is not required it would just make the development faster.
  • Please tell us what kind of tabs or sections you would like on the site and their name so we can design the menu for the site.  Common sections are: Home or Index page, About Us page, and Contact Us page as described above but as this is a custom made site you may change all or add to these.
  • Please tell us what images if any you would like incorporated into the design and of course as is in all website give us any images you wish to put up.  You will have up to two simple graphics elements to add to the body of the website be they buttons, banners, or a simple graphical design of something like a map.  Describe these images and if text is involved please write the text in its entirety and specify size and position of the text or leave it up to the artist to decide.
  • You can have more pictures and formatting elements of the body of the website so if you want captions on the pictures or certain text formatted in a certain way, let us know how you want it.
  • If you have videos hosted in youtube.com or one such site, just give us the video link and we will insert it for you on the page you desire.

E-commerce Website

  • An E-commerce site is a fully customized site so it requires all of the above plus elements unique to a shopping cart, we will need information on at least the following points:
    • Sales tax amount if any is required and for what states (countries).  Please remember in the US you only charge tax for the states you have a physical presence in and if you do not have a physical presence in any states, you do not charge taxes!
    • What shipping methods you will have on the cart i.e. USPS, UPS, FedEx, or others.  There are also other methods you can use and for custom methods we will need to discuss implementation separately
    • Are you going to charge any handling fee, if so how much?  Also will you have separate handling fees for international and domestic packages.
    • In order for the shipping calculator to work correctly you must have an accurate weight for each item if they are being shipped.  Please make sure you know the weight for each item and throw in a fudge factor to account for the weight of the packaging material.
    • You will need images, descriptions, prices (cost and retail/wholesale prices as well if you want the site to help you figure out your profits), weight,  dimensions (if the products are very large), options available for each item, and depending on the item…more.
    • Manufacturer  of item(s)
    • Options of items so we can plan what options they will have and program those options in
    • Any special information about the items that needs to be put with the items or on a special page
    • The About us and/or terms of service page needs to have descriptions of the sales terms and store policies including but not limited to:
      • Return policy
      • Damaged goods policy
      • Shipping and handling policies, especially any restrictions to countries or states or anything that is out of the ordinary in shipping
      • Policies dealing with mistakes in item photos and descriptions
      • Policies describing how mistakes by you are handles in terms of getting compensation for the mistake or returns for wrong shipments
      • Legal shipping address and phone number of the business
      • Order cancellation policy
    • Metatags (keywords, title, and description metatags) for each item as applicable to help in search engine optimization (optional but recommended)
    • Categories that you plan to have for your item catalog online so w can plan on the length of the category list

There may be many more special requirements for special needs website that are beyond just an e-commerce site, for example if you have a delivery business you do not take items you take packages (which are your orders so it is ecommerce in a way) and then you have special needs for handling the packages and routing them correctly.  This would be a super customized ecommerce site that would need much more than this.  However, for most sites, these requirements are sufficient.  In any case these instructions are just here for your general information; once the site is requested more specific requirements can be established and you will work closely with out team coordinator to get your website made in nothing flat!
